While I was working on this, I decided that I had in fact gotten better. This is the most ambitious digital painting I've made yet. I think, as always, the values and edges need some work. That deer skull was a fucking BITCH to draw, since I wanted a peculiar angle. Still, it's come a hell of a long way since my last progress shot of the piece.
Just another progress shot. I like that you could see the background through the eye. Might have to revisit this piece sometime.
Looks finito to me, then again finito is the artist's perogative. The animal's pose looks fluid and lifelike (pun on the skull intended). Until you mentioned it was digital I would have guessed this was paint. The color really captures the feeling of inferno, and the composition makes me think of a National Geographic still shot of an undead deer fleeing a forest fire.
ReplyDeleteThis is AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteOnly issue I have is that I didn't realize that the dear was a running skeleton till the comment above mentioned it.
You could define the body so it looks more hollow then it does whole. Or more skeletal rather than flesh and bone.
Other than that, congrats! You must get an A on this bad boy!
That is really cool, I would say that is complete!
ReplyDeleteIncredible.
ReplyDeleteThat looks awesome! The white/black thumbnail method you talked about helped me a ton with my own, and it worked out great for you as well!
ReplyDeleteIf I had to point out anything, it looks like the log on the left is on fire, and if it is, then I think the flames would not only show on top of the log, but also the sides, so maybe add some more light areas in front?
Holy cow, you drew that? You have talent!
ReplyDeleteThis is so awesome, Adele! Very nice concept and composition. I also love how surreal the deer skull combination with the body looks. (:
ReplyDeletefabulous. <3
